Methi seeds

Methi (Fenugreek), sprouted seeds of fenugreek have high protein content (32%), lysins (5.7g/16g of nitrogen), soluble (20%) and insoluble (28%) dietary fibre, L-tryptophan and rich in calcium, iron and beta-carotene. The three main chemical constituent of fenugreek seed with desired potential medicinal uses are steroidal sapogenins, galactomannans and isoleucine. Methi sprouted seeds produced a significant reduction in fasting blood sugar level, post prandial blood sugar level and also reduced weight of the type II diabetic as well as obese patients. Sprouted fenugreek seeds lower the BMI range with contrast to reduction in weight.

Jamun

Jamun (Syzygium cumini) helps to control diabetes mellitus, a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels that result from defects in insulin secretion, or action, or both. Dried jamun powder or extract has a medicinal value and proved very effective to control diabetes mellitus

Amla

 Amla (Emblica officinalis) is widely used in the Indian system of medicine and believed to increase defense against disease. Vitamin C, tannins and flavonoids present in amla have very powerful antioxidant properties. This helps as support to prevent infections in diabetic patients. Due to very rich content of Vitamin C and polyphenols amla prevents insulin resistance caused due to a high fructose diet, it assists in proper absorption of insulin leading to a drop in blood sugar in diabetics. Amla, being the polyphenols and a mixture of phytochemicals can act as a hypolipidemic agent reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications in diabetics. Thus amla may be used as a supportive therapy for diabetics.

Punarnava

Punarnava (B. Diffusa) helps to produced dose dependent reduction in blood glucose probably through rejuvenation of pancreatic β- cells or through extrapancreatic action. It also shows hepatoprotective, antioxidant and immunomodulatory effect thus helps to prevent secondary infections associated with diabetes.

Daruharidra

Daruharidra (Berberis aristata DC) has been used in ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine for more than 3000 years. Root and stem extract of Daruharidra is rich in a yellow alkaloid berberine which has strong potential to regulate glucose homeostasis through decreased gluconeogenesis and oxidative stress thus possess blood glucose lowering potential. It exhibits antihyperglycemic activity by stimulating insulin secretion and α-glucosidase inhibition.

Guggul

Guggul is a complex mixture of minerals, gum, terpenes, sterols, essential oils, sterones, ferrulates, lignans, and flavanones. Its lipid faction guggulipid consists of various bioactive components like diterpenoids, triterpenoids, steroids, lignans, and fatty tetrol esters. Guggul helps to improved blood glucose in fasting condition, plasma insulin level, glucose tolerance. It helps to reduce levels of harmful lipids, hepatic damage and displayed protective effect against lipid peroxidation. It helps to reduce neuronal damage and memory deficits and shows antioxidant activities.
